According to section 394 of the Companies Ordinance, all limited companies incorporated in Hong Kong are required to appoint an independent auditor to audit their financial statements annually and present to shareholders at the annual general meeting. The audit must be performed by a Certified Public Accountant with a practicing certificate issued by HKICPA. The audited financial statements can be used for report of profits tax or to banks for support of bank facilities application.
